North Carolina is one of two states in the US that automatically treats 16- and 17-year-olds as adults in the court system, despite growing and compelling evidence that this practice is harmful for kids and ineffective for reducing crime. It's time to end this practice and "raise the age" of juvenile jurisdiction.
To raise awareness and garner support from the Charlotte community changing this outdated policy, the Charlotte Children’s Alliance and NC Child are co-hosting a town hall meeting on Thursday, March 30 at 5:30 pm. Our goal is to fill the room with influential people in Charlotte who will lead this effort within their communities to educate and inspire people to call their legislators in support of "Raise the Age."
